Junior High Roundup: Lady Warriors Win, Again

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The victories keep piling up for Du Quoin (Middle School) in girls basketball. The latest came Thursday as the Lady Warriors belted Trico (Junior High School) 49-25 in DMS Gym.

Now 13-3 overall, Du Quoin is 5-1 in Junior Southwestern Egyptian Conference (Jr. SWEC) play.

Rebekah Maddox scored 12 points and Jesse Martin added 10 for the Lady Warriors.

Kelsey Robinson (seven points) and Cassidy Rice (six points) weren't far behind.

DMS raced to a 38-10 halftime lead.

Jordan Lodge topped the Lady Junior Pioneers with a nine-point effort.

In the seventh grade game, Du Quoin (7-4, 4-2) escaped with a 26-24 win. Hailey Stewart and Abby Myers each had nine points.

SPARTA NIPS PJHS

Sparta (Junior High School) outscored Pinckneyville (Junior High School) 6-4 in the overtime session Thursday, taking a thrilling 40-38 victory.

The Junior Panthers are 6-7. In the Jr. SWEC, PJHS remained winless at 0-5.

Chaz Ruffino had 10 points to lead Pinckneyville. Christopher Priebe and Sage Evers each scored eight.

Evers had six rebounds with Ruffino handing out three assists.

Ruffino also hit three three-point baskets.

Sparta won the preliminary game.
