Mary Jo Ann Martin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Mary Jo Ann Martin, age 68, of Pinckneyville, departed this life on November 13, 2008 at 1:08 a.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. following a short, brave battle with leukemia.

Mary Jo was born on October 4, 1940 in Du Quoin, a daughter to Raymond and Lora (Schatte) Mohr. On October 29, 1960, she married John L. Martin and he survives. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville. She enjoyed life as a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed bowling, emailing, and socializing with her many friends. Recently, she became an active member of the Skilled Care Auxiliary and enjoyed many hours she spent working at the Auxiliary Thrift Store.

Survivors include her husband: John Martin, a son: Allen Martin and wife Sandy of Hoyleton, a daughter: Lisa Trail and husband Mark of Denmark, four grandchildren: Jacob and Jamilyn Martin of Hoyleton, Becky Trail of St. Louis, Mo., and Kacie Davis and husband Mike of Du Quoin, two sisters: Helen Rae Timpner and husband Ralph of Pinckneyville, and Brenda Hosto and husband Mark of Alhambra, and many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son: Bruce Martin.

Funeral services will be held in St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Father James Van Oss officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made in Mary Jo's name to Leukemia/Lymphoma Research at Barnes Siteman Cancer Center, Campus Box 1204, 7425 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63105 or to the St. Bruno School Endowment Fund, Pinckneyville.
