</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ In what seemed like one of the final steps of preparation for the City of Pinckneyville's pool improvements plan, the contract between the city and Kellerman Bros. Construction Company Inc. was approved for public inspection.

The contract is also bundled with the supporting bonds and the initial proposal, which was detailed in previous newspaper stories.

Other items covered on the agenda:

n Approved resolution R-2008-41 pertaining to compensation for employees called for duty for the National Guard or Reserves. This resolution is proposed to agree with state law for persons in the armed services.

n Discussed increasing the permit fee for vacating streets or alleys from $100 a fee structure that better covers the city's costs. The current options are being discussed and a variable fee was mentioned at the meeting, the cost of which depended on whether the vacating is occurring on sidewalks, streets or alleyways.

n Placed on file ordinance O-2008-09 levying taxes for corporate purposes for the fiscal year commencing May 1, 2008, and ending April 30, 2009.

n Commissioner Kellerman reported that the general financial statements for the year ending April 30, 2008, have been prepared by Emling & Hoffman, P.C., and will be presented for approval at the next meeting. The TIF audit should be available at that time as well.

n Placed on file an engineering agreement between the city and Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC, for engineering services in the amount of $6,760.00 for a wetlands survey. Mayor Holder spoke with Robert Spencer of the soil and water conservation office about performing the survey at a lesser cost through a federal department. The survey must be done before the winter months while leaves are still on the trees.

The next Pinckneyville City Council meeting will be November 24 at 7:30 p.m.
