Lady Warriors Sweep #204 Event with 5-0 Record
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ With a pair of weekend wins-coming barely 12 hours apart-Du Quoin (Middle School) secured its second consecutive Pinckneyville (#204) Invitational Tournament title.
Friday night, the Lady Warriors (6-2) handled Tamaroa/St. Bruno 36-20 as Rebekah Maddox poured in 21 points. Nichole Jackson added five and Jordan George four as DMS led at each quarter-stop by scores of 12-6, 20-10 and 30-14.
Dani Schoenbacher paced T/SB with 10.
"Maddox was very good tonight," T/SB coach Jim Harris said. "We really had no answer for her."
Saturday morning, Du Quoin sewed up its title in convincing fashion by routing Pinckneyville (Junior High School). The final score was 39-19 as Maddox (15) and Jackson (nine) were again top point-makers. Kaitlyn Mayer had 10 for PJHS, who trailed Du Quoin 18-2 by halftime.
Maddox and Jackson represented 5-0 DMS on the all-tournament team.
T/SB bounced back to finish 3-2, defeating host #204 Saturday afternoon.
Alyssa Hirsch (13 points) led #204 with Hayley Simpson scoring eight.
Haley Szczepanski (11), Dani Schoenbacher (eight points, 10 rebounds) and Bailey Nippe (eight points, five steals) topped T/SB (7-6).
