After all expenses were paid out, the Steeleville Jaycees raised $3,145.54 for the hospital.
The event was a huge success and exceeded the Jaycees' expectations. There were about 200 people that walked prior to the parade Friday night and the 3K run drew about 25 runners. Co-chairmen David Knop and Dr. Renee Rheinecker were very pleased with the events.
"Dave and I were stunned by all the community support and enthusiasm for the event! We look forward to making this an annual event and a permanent part of the Oktoberfest festivities," commented Co-coordinator Renee Rheinecker. "The Jaycees would like to thank everyone who helped make the event a success. A special thanks to the Steeleville Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Armstrong and the police department, Curt Jeffers, and the Steeleville High School NHS," she added.
The Jaycees would like to inform the public that if you did not receive your t-shirt, please contact Dr. Renee Rheinecker at 965-9555.
This is not the first time the Jaycees have given back to the community; last year they raised over $15,000 and donated it for a playground to be built in Steeleville.
