CHS Summit Yearbook Staff attend workshop

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester High School Summit Yearbook staff attended a workshop at the Carbondale Civic Center September 18. The workshop was sponsored by Taylor Publishing Com-pany. Taylor Publishing, of Dallas, Texas, is the company that publishes the CHS Summit Yearbook.

The CHS staff spent the day attending sessions designed to help them create an even better yearbook for 2009. Last year's yearbook was deemed the best in decades by most students and staff at CHS. This newfound excitement was due in part to creative innovations and full-color pages that were implemented last year.

Students at the workshop learned how to create page layouts, how to use themes, and how to use photography throughout the day. Of course pizza, snacks and drinks helped make the day a total success.

2009 Summit staff who attended the workshop includes Erin Eggemeyer, Lacey Hartman, Devon Hecht, Ashley Helmers, Staci Jany, Missy Lyons, Addie Mitchell, Paige Nanney, Ashley Page, Co-Editor, Angela Petrowske, Samantha Schmerbauch, Amy Tressler, Co-Editor and Ceirra Watkins.

Other staff members who could not attend, but who are active Summit staff members are Megan Atchison, Kellie Bert, Bridget Brown, Cori Cowan, Sarah Liefer, Garrett Rickenberg and Marci Tressler.

Summit Staff Advisor, Brenda Coop, who became responsible for the yearbook in 2007-08, was very pleased with the workshop and stated that the students who attended benefited greatly from the experience. Coop now has an actual class at CHS which is dedicated solely to the creation of the yearbook.

Coop and her staff have announced the theme for the 2009 yearbook which is, "A Picture Is Worth 2009 Words". Yearbooks are now on sale at CHS and orders will be taken until April 2009. The cost of the 2009 yearbooks is $45.00 and can be ordered by completing an order form. Forms are available in the CHS office or in her classroom.

Yearbook staff notes that they still have several students that have not picked up their 2008 yearbooks. Those yearbooks are being stored in Ms. Coop's classroom and can be obtained simply by stopping by CHS and visiting her in her classroom. All visitors must report to the office first to sign in and get a visitor's pass.

Coop also states that she has about 20 extra yearbooks that can be purchased for $44.00 each. Interested parties should call her at 826-2302, ext. 106 or visit her in her classroom.
