Lady Indians Challenge Herrin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Nevermind the fact Du Quoin High School lost its 25th volleyball match of the 2008 season.
The youthful Lady Indians (2-25) put together another solid effort Wednesday before falling in three games against Herrin.
Scores were 25-22, 10-25, 12-25.
Du Quoin plays at least three more matches Saturday to close the regular season, competing in the SIRR Tournament at Murphysboro.
Herrin's record is 14-10.
"I'm very proud of the way our girls played tonight," Lady Indians coach Isaac Miller said. "We did come up a little short, but the girls played their hardest and gave us great effort."
Seniors Kasi Camden, Cashmiere Bledsoe and Micah Ward were honored prior to the match as Du Quoin's three seniors.
Camden ended with a team-high six kills. Bledsoe added four kills and five assists. Ward contributed seven assists, another team-best.
"I'm very proud of the way our girls played," Miller said. "Especially our seniors. These girls stuck with it and gave us everything they had."
Despite starting an all freshman and sophomore line-up, Du Quoin's junior varsity squad closed a strong season at 10-4 following 25-14, 29-27 wins over Herrin.
"We had another solid jayvee win over a very good program," Miller said.
