Frosh Tribe Rolls at Sparta

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin High School's Freshman Football team evened its record at 4-4 Thursday, following a 40-22 thrashing of host Sparta.

The young Indians finished 2-3 in Mississippi Division play of The River-to-River Conference, with all three setbacks decided by six points or less.

Six different Du Quoin players scored touchdowns against Sparta-Dillon Beltz, Sam Gossett, Quivon Bledsoe, Cayle Diggins, Dylan Pyron and Brandon Willaims-as the Tribe rolled up over 500 yards in total offense.

Gossett threw for 153 yards and one score with John Galik adding 78 more passing yards. Beltz also threw a TD on the halfback option as seven Indians had at least one catch. Diggins (74 yards), Pyron, Williams and Logan Spain (54 yards) were the leaders.

Dustin Taylor (70 yards), Bledsoe (64), Beltz (62) and Gossett (57) topped a balanced rushing attack.

Defensively, Tim Mabrey and Nathan Zoller recovered fumbles and Spain blocked a punt.

Next Thursday, Du Quoin ends its season at home against Murphysboro.
