Herald Tribune wins two IPA awards

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Illinois Press Association recently announced The Randolph County Herald Tribune as a winner in their 2008 Excellence in News Contest.

Staff Reporter Dave Morris was awarded first place while Managing Editor Carrie Myers was awarded an honorable mention. The pair placed in the Government Beat Reporting category.

Morris' Red Bud City Council stories brought him home the award, while Myers' articles on Chester's City Council earned her the recognition.

An award luncheon was held in conjunction with the IPA News and Editorial Convention on Friday,?October 10 at the Springfield Crowne Plaza Hotel. This year's convention theme was 'Fusion: Powering the Print- Online Connection'.

Publisher Brent Easton stated, "I am proud to be the Publisher of a newspaper that produces award winning writers. I am very pleased with the quality that Managing Editor Carrie Myers and Staff Reporter Dave Morris bring to our loyal readers and subscribers. I am not surprised by their awards, I am just glad they are finally being recognized."
