Local first responders receive Homeland Security Grant

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that three organizations in Southern Illinois have received Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds will allow for the purchase of safety and security equipment.

"By better equipping our first responders we enhance community safety," said Costello. "I will continue to make sure that this funding is a priority of the federal government."

The Evansville Police Department, in Randolph County, received a $3,785 grant and a Night Vision Kit.
