CHS freshman fall on the road to Bulldogs

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Yellow Jacket freshman football team traveled cross county to Sparta last Thursday to take on the Bulldogs. Chester lost the game 20-0.

"The kids played a hard Sparta team," said Chester coach Dave Holder. "We just had a hard time getting the ball in to the end-zone."

The Bulldogs scored their first six points early in the first half. Sparta's defense gave Chester a hard time by stopping the air and ground attacks.

Early in the second quarter, Chester would lose another player for the season, this time it would be Mike Mayer. Mayer would go down with a stress fracture in his lower tibia and not return to the game. Sparta would continue to add points in the second half en-route to their win.

"This was a big win for our kids," says Sparta coach Clint Peck. "Our defense really sustained and won the game for us."

Chester dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference. They will be on the road tonight to take on Anna-Jonesboro. Kick off is 6 p.m.
