Supt. of the Year

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Pinckneyville School District No. 50 Superintendent Tim O'Leary has been selected as the 2009 Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) Egyptian Region "Superintendent of the Year" by his peers. O'Leary received the honor at the Egyptian Region's fall meeting on Wednesday, September 24 in Mt. Vernon and will now be considered for the State Superintendent of the Year award to be announced in November at the Illinois School Board Conference in Chicago.

-- The Egyptian Region includes all school districts in the counties of Hamilton, Franklin, Jefferson, Perry, Washington, Wayne, and White Counties.

Greg Goins, Superintendent of the West Frankfort School District, served as Chairman of a five member Superintendent of the Year selection committee that included Du Quoin Superintendent Gary Kelly, Pinckneyville High Superintendent Brent Kreid, Mt. Vernon Grade School Superintendent Kevin Settle, and Zeigler-Royalton School District Superintendent George Wilkerson.

-- This is the third year that the Egyptian Region has recognized a "Superintendent of the Year." In 2007, Dr. Kevin Settle, superintendent of the Mt. Vernon Grade School District, was the first to receive the honor and went on the win the Illinois Superintendent of the Year award. Last year, Rick Cook, superintendent at Benton Elementary School was recognized as Egyptian Region "Superintendent of the Year."

The award is given for outstanding leadership and dedication in the field of public education.

--"Tim O'Leary is an outstanding school leader who has served as a mentor to so many principals and superintendents, not only in Perry County, but throughout our entire Egyptian Region," said Greg Goins. "Mr. O'Leary is a veteran superintendent and continues to be a valuable resource for school administrators."
