Dorothy Lucille Jackson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Dorothy Lucille "Mammy" Jackson, 75, of Herrin, passed away at 3:50 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.

Dorothy had worked as a CNA. She was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church in Dowell. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed keeping up on politics.

She was born January 19, 1933 at Hallidayboro, the daughter of Curtis and Opal (Walters) Williams.

She married David Grizzell and he preceded her in death. She then married Eugene "Chick" Lindner and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter - Lori Brown and husband Brad of Herrin, one son - Larry Grizzell and wife Kate of Marion, Iowa, five grandchildren - Amber Brown of Herrin, Glenn Grizzell of Marion, Iowa, Katie Grizzell of Brandon, Fla., Shelby Lilly of Marion, Iowa, and Gage Blakslee of Marion, Iowa, five great grandchildren - Allison, Gage, Micah, Remington, and Tzion, two sisters - Pauline Crofford and Reba Woodside, both of Du Quoin, two brothers - Kenny Williams of Bush, and Donnie Williams of Du Quoin, niece - Louise "Weezie" Ross, who was like a sister, of Dowell and special friend - Linda Vanzandt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, four brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gary Pate officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or Diabetes Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
