After just over 23 years working for the Pinckneyville Fire Department, 12 of which were spent as a Lieutenant, Dave Mucha has been given an opportunity to advance his career and must say good-bye to the Pinckneyville Department. In honor of his years of service, Commissioner Beltz presented him a plaque and the rest of the Council gave him their thanks, as well as congratulating him on his advancement.

Other items addressed on the agenda:

The Chamber of Commerce was given necessary authorization from the City to conduct the annual Mardi Gras festivities for 2008 on Oct. 24 and 25.

Approved a request from Perry County Shrine Club to collect funds Oct. 4 at locations around the square and the four-way stop.

Approved a request from Kathy Staffey of the Pinckneyville Junior Softball Baseball League to collect funds for the Park/Summer League at locations around the square and the four-way stop on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Approved R-2008-39, Corporate Resolution authorizing signature on checking account #7002549, Insurance Fund Account.

Placed an engineering agreement with the Fulton Group for engineering services associated with the Cooper B-Line water line project on layover for public inspection.

Approved a request from Greg Hale, Athletic Director of Pinckneyville Community High School, for the road closing of Ballpark Road during the upcoming 2008 SIJHSAA Baseball and Softball Class L State Tournament to be able to charge admission o the tournament. The dates are Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday, October 4, 7 and 9 and would need to be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 7 and 9. The days around these dates might need to be used in case one of the above mentioned dates is rained out.

Placed on file two engineering agreements, McDaniel's Parking Lot and South Retail Area Infrastructure, for the RD Grant projects.

Approved a request by Commissioner Kellerman to discuss and take possible action on salary increase for certain city employees and requesting an Executive Session for collective negotiating matters or deliberations concerning salary schedules or job classifications and litigation, pending or probable.
