DMS Warriors Outright Jr. SWEC CHAMPS !

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin (Middle School) claimed the outright Junior Southwestern Egyptian Conference baseball championship Monday, pulling away for a 14-4 win over Pinckneyville (Junior High School).

The Warriors, 13-2, can complete a perfect 12-0 SWEC season with a victory against Nashville Tuesday.

"Being able to win a conference championship at any level is a great accomplishment," DMS coach Tim Craft said. "I am really proud of these kids."

PJHS jumped ahead with two runs in the first and trailed just 6-4 entering the sixth before the Warriors scored eight times to end the contest.

Camden Youngman, Nate Boss, Austin Mansker and Travis Chapman all enjoyed two-hit games.

Mansker and Youngman knocked in two runs each. Boss had three RBI. Brenden Fred and Shayne Baxter also hit safely.

Garrett Dorsey (2-1) was the winning pitcher, working five innings with six strikeouts. Mansker finished up, notching his second save.

DMS RIPS MARION

Boss fired a five-hitter with six strikeouts to lead Du Quoin's junior high baseball team past Marion, 14-3, at Ray Fosse Park Friday afternoon.

The Warriors broke open a close game by scoring five runs each in the fourth and seventh innings.

Du Quoin plated three first-inning runs to stake out an early lead as Jonah Spencer delivered a two-run triple and scored on an error.

In the fifth, Du Quoin sent eight batters to the plate as Youngman had an RBI infield single, Boss added a two-run single and Dorsey chipped in an RBI single for a 9-2 advantage.

The Warriors put the game well out of reach in the seventh, when they sent 10 batters to the box.

Saturday's Anna Tournament was postponed by rain.
