Panthers Return to Cape Showcase

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Clyde C. Miller Career Academy - a member of the highly-regarded St. Louis Public High League-will be Pinckneyville's opponent in the 2008 Pepsi Showcase.

The second annual event is again being held at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. This year's event is Saturday, Nov. 29 and the Panthers meet the Miller Academy Phoenix at 2:45 p.m. in the second of five games.

Miller Academy was 14-8 in 2007-2008, finishing second behind perennial powers Vashon, Beaumont and Gateway Tech in the PHL standings.

With an enrollment of 732, Miller Academy is located on North Grand Avenue in St. Louis is only a few blocks from the former site of Sportsman's Park.

The tentative schedule for this event is as follows:

Cape Girardeau, Mo. Central vs. Hazelwood Central (St. Louis), 1:00

Pinckneyville vs. Miller Career Academy (St. Louis), 2:45

Poplar Bluff, Mo. vs. McCluer (Florissant, Mo.), 4:30

Sikeston, Mo. vs. Lafayette (Wildwood, Mo.), 6:15

Maplewood (St. Louis, Mo.) vs. Chaminade Prep School (St. Louis, Mo.), 8:00

Last year, Pinckneyville lost a narrow decision against Lafayette on its way to finishing fourth in the IHSA Class 2A State Tournament.
