Michael Smith

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Michael Charles Smith of McDonough, Ga., formerly of Pinckneyville, passed away, Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.

Mick was born in Du Quoin, on April 1, 1947 to the late Michael Paul and Audre Elizabeth (nee Bigham) Smith of Pinckneyville, IL. He graduated from Murray State University. He served over 3 years in the Air Force. Currently he was the Vice President of Human Resources at Fenner Dunlop in Atlanta.

Mick married Janelle Ann Hutchings on April 10, 1972 in Pinckneyville, Perry Co, IL. She survives along with their daughter Rachel Elizabeth Smith and close friend Andrew Pottle, four &#338;grand dogs&#8218; and one &#338;grand cat&#8218; of Atlanta, Ga. Also surviving, are two brothers, Jack L. Smith and wife Jean of Sparta, and Richard P. Smith and wife Judy of Lakewood, Wash.; sister-in-law Janet Amelunke and husband Robert of Summerfield, Fla.; three nieces, four nephews, and thirteen great-nieces and nephews.

Mick deeply loved his family, friends, job and travel. He appreciated music, cooking, was a 32nd degree Mason and was an avid golfer. Mick&#8218;s big heart and ability to put others ahead of himself will be sorely missed by many loved ones, family and friends. A memorial service is planned at the Cannon Cleveland Funeral home in McDonough, Ga. at 11am Friday, September 12th. A celebration of Mick&#8218;s life will be held at Eagles Landing Country Club at 4pm Friday September 12th.
