Diane Whittington

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Diane Whittington, 71, of Elkville, passed away at 7 a.m., Sunday, August 31, 2008, at the Pinckneyville Health Care in Pinckneyville.

Diane retired in 1993 after twenty-six years as a teacher for the Elverado School District. She was a member of the Elkville Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Elkville Card Club, Phi Kappa Sorority, NEA, IEA and EEA.

She was born September 18, 1936, at Du Quoin the daughter of Dwight and Hazel (Davis) Burns.

Diane married Charles D. Whittington on June 13, 1959, at Elkville and he passed away June 9, 1996.

She is survived by son- Greg Whittington and wife Jill of Elkville, daughter- Lori Whittington of Elkville and three grandchildren- Kyle Whittington, Brooke Whittington and Allie Whittington all of Elkville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, at the Elkville Baptist Church with Rev. Darryl Williams officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
