</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Approximately 200 people participated at the Chester Public Library Family Night on Tuesday, August 26. A wide variety of entertainment was provided at this special event as the Library "Celebrates 80 Years in 08!"

Paul Rheaume opened the evening with a magic show and demonstrated balloon artistry. Next, the City of Chester and Charles Bargman, City Recreational Director, displayed the City's newest dump truck, and Mayor Marty Bert was on hand to show the Chester Police Department's award- winning Dodge Charger.

Chief Mike Lochhead and the Chester Fire Department displayed a fire engine and rescue vehicle. Everyone was invited to get a close look at all the City vehicles, and to the delight of the children, many were able to sit in them.

The Friends of the Library provided refreshments. The delicious ice cream treats were enjoyed by all. The final activity was "Splashin' with the Fire Department". All who were brave enough and wanted to get wet were sprayed by the fire truck!

Librarians Tammy Grah and Lisa Wittenborn would like to thank everybody who made the event a success! "We had a great response!" said Tammy Grah. "The families who participated, the schools who helped promote the event, the Friends of the Library and the City of Chester officials, departments and volunteers, all helped to make this a special evening for everyone in attendance."
