Clinton Still Lingers

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ A while back I wrote an article on how pointless the Democratic race would have been if Obama took Clinton on as his vice president, and, although Obama has chosen Biden as his running mate, it seems that I was playing devil's advocate. Hillary Clinton will still be submitted as a nominee at the Democratic National Convention.

I can't claim to know a lot about politics and how they work. In honesty, who can? But I was fairly sure that when Obama won the race for Democratic nominee that it meant that the loser could pack their bags. I thought the winner was the one who would be chosen by the DNC since the votes were obviously in their favor. How silly I was. Of course, it was also very naive of me, coming from a system that also allows prisoners several retrials until they get the verdict they need.

I do not have a problem with Clinton. Given, I lean toward Obama with my vote since he is from Illinois and, historically, presidents attempt to help their home state a little bit more than the rest, but, politically speaking, I have no problem with Clinton. However, she lost and needs to know when to stop. Bush has managed to show the many faults with the workings of Washington, now Clinton is beginning to unveil the cracks in the voting system.

As neither a Democrat or a Republican, from an outsider's point of view, the tactic presented by this is obvious: a win for McCain. Coming from the "Land of Lincoln" I am very familiar with the phrase, "A house divided against itself cannot stand." If our Democratic nominees, one being from Illinois, lose due to not grasping this simple concept, it will be an embarrassing day indeed.

Though from the Democrats, they say it is a move that honors her historical run for president, and Obama even approved of it. Clinton has stated that all of her voters should stand behind Obama and his run against McCain, yet, she is still submitted. Weather it comes to a vital point or not, such an action has shown that the race was utterly pointless. Clinton did not win and still got submitted to the committee. What is to keep future losing candidates from getting the nomination submission?
