Plane lands in Sparta parking lot
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A small single engine plane flown by William B. Stofer, 36, Claypool, IN, lost power as he was approaching Sparta Airport and he was forced to make a landing on the Dollar General Store parking lot.
Once on the ground, the pilot couldn't stop. The plane rolled between the store and another building, crossed the parking lot and came to rest in a ditch along the road.
The plane headed was east bound at the time of the set down, and it came to rest in the ditch on the west side of N. Market on Route 4.
"I'm glad that no one was injured, it could have been a lot worst," states Sparta Police Chief Tom Ashley.
The passenger in the plane was Jeremiah N. Polk, 28, Warsaw, IN. Neither the pilot, passenger or any bystander was injured. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the accident.
