Father delivers child on road in Chester

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On Saturday, August 16th, 2008 Rick Drescher of Chester delivered his own child at 3:05 a.m. on Highway 150 next to the Morton Building.

Both he and his wife Janice were in route to Sparta Community Hospital when his wife advised Drescher to turn around because she was about to deliver their child. Drescher immediately call 911 and gave them his approximate local.

Drescher pull over next to the Morton Building just Northwest of town. He got out of his car, walked around and opened the door just in time as the newborn's head was crowning.

"Everything just stood still, there was no air blowing, everything was just quiet," states Rick Drescher. " I believe that day, I stood next to God and experience life."

The ambulance were missed informed on the exact location by 911 dispatched, but responded soon. They loaded up mom and baby and took them to Sparta Community Hospital.

The Drescher's welcomed into the world 17 inch, 5lb 15-oz girl, Toni Raelynn Drescher. Janice and baby were discharged from the hospital the very next day. Both are very healthy and are doing fine.

This was the first time Rick has ever delivered his own child, but adds that it has changed a part of life in a positive way. The Drescher's wish to thank all police officers and EMT's who responded that night for a job well done.
