Lady Warriors Extend Early Win Streak
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin (Middle School) continued its fast start to the girls softball
season, ripping host Benton (Middle School) Monday afternoon.
The final score was 13-5.
DMS, 5-0, is idle until Thursday¹s trip to Chester (Middle School).
"We didn¹t play our best ball but we did hit it really well," Lady Warriors
coach Jason James said.
With nine different players recording at least one hit, DMS touched two
Benton pitchers for 14 safeties.
Hadley Marek and Amanda Williams each went 3-for-3 with Williams belting a
pair of home runs.
Carley Hill and Bri Green added two hits apiece. Hill and winning pitcher
Cassidy Rice both tripled.
Kelsey Robinson, Abby Myers, Haley Stewart and Colby Williams also hit
safely.
Du Quoin led 11-1 after three innings.
While A. Williams scored three times, three other Lady Warriors- Aubrey
Davis, Hill and Green-all crossed the plate twice.
Rice pitched five innings, working the first three and then finishing up.
She improved to 5-0, allowing two hits with seven strikeouts.
Emily Asbury tossed the fourth and fifth frames.
