Ruth C. McMurray

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Ruth C. McMurray, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at her residence.

Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and regularly attended the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin with her daughters. She was a past member of the Du Quoin Women's Club. She was a past recipient of the Outstanding Citizen Of The Year Award from the Du Quoin Jaycees.

She was born March 9, 1916, at Du Quoin, the daughter of John C. and Cora (Gross) Schwinn.

She married Walter McMurray on Jan. 1, 1937, at Du Quoin, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1978.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Grosse of Du Quoin, and Dianna Kuhnert and husband Ronald of Tamaroa; one son-in-law, John Geddes of Frankfort, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Blanche Schwinn, Wilma Walker, and Venita Janello; brother-in-law, Dean McMurray; four grandchildren, Julie Grosse, Todd Kuhnert and wife Jana, Melissa Dennis and husband Roger, and Debbie Pierce and husband Alan; and six great grandchildren, Charlie, Sam, and Tucker Kuhnert, Morgan and Madison Dennis, and Anthony Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, LaDonna Geddes; one son, Conrad McMurray; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Sprit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin or the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
