Phyllis Carol Peters

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Phyllis Peters, age 68 of Burlington, Ky., formerly of DuQuoin, passed away April 17, 2008 at St. Lukes West Hospital in Florence, Ky.

Phyllis was born May 24, 1939 in Drexel, N.C., a daughter to James Willard and Cornelia May (Watkins) Powell. Phyllis was married to Ogden Keith Peters and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2006. She was a homemaker and loved golfing.

Phyllis is survived by two sons, Richard Petty of Willowick, Ohio, and Michael Peters of Marengo; daughter, Tracy (Doug) Whitis of Burlington, Ky.; brother, George (Jean) Powell of Rutherford College, N.C.; two sisters, Joanne (Bill) Buff, of Valdese, N.C., and Linda (Don) Berry of N.C.; eleven grandchildren, Travis Petty, Aryan Winters, Keith Adams, Alyssa Adams, Thomas Wiza, A.J. Whitis, Daniel Whitis, Casandra Peters, Miranda Peters, Richie Petty, Randy Petty; one great grandchild, Landon Whitis; two brothers-in-law, Kent (Margie) Peters of DuQuoin, Richard (Sally) Peters of Hampshire; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Crawford of Pinckneyville and Lela Kay (Doug) Cochran of Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Victor and Randy Petty; and one brother, Bill Powell.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m. at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, with Rev. Michael Ebersohl officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and then on Friday from 8 a.m. until service.

Memorial donations may be given to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
