Hilda Irene Moss

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Hilda Irene Moss, 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:25 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Hilda was a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.

She was born November 25, 1934 at Cutler, the daughter of Ira McKinley and Rebecca (Huggins) Queen.

She married Charles W. Moss on March 28, 1953 at Du Quoin and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin; one daughter, Laurie Carver and husband Jim of Du Quoin; two sons, Steve Moss and wife Sherry of Du Quoin and Mike Moss and wife Kelly of Pinckneyville; son-in-law, Bob Strode of Du Quoin; three brothers, Fern Queen of Ashaway, R.I., Ovid Queen and wife Judy of Columbia, and Meril Queen and wife Thelma of Tamaroa; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Terry Strode; two granddaughters, Katie Strode and Kayla McIntosh; and four brothers, Roderick Queen, Lester Queen, Dale Queen, and Ira Queen, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 27, at the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from Noon until the time of service on Sunday at the church.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church or Friends of Skilled Care and will be accepted at the funeral home.
