Used car dealership coming soon to Steeleville
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Village of Steeleville has finalized the agreement of Erv and Theresa Asbury to develop the property located between Tom's Barber Shop and Egyptian Electric.
The Asburys plan to build an automobile dealership will offer anywhere from twenty to thirty high-end used vehicles. Customers will be able to call the office to put in a vehicle request for the specific automobile they are looking for. They do plan to offer maintenance services as well.
The Village approved Resolution 08-07 authorizing the execution of the Asbury agreement at this past Monday night's Steeleville Village Hall meeting. The board voted unanimously on the agreement of the property located at 1000 W. Broadway to be deeded to the Asburys with the amendments or rider that they develop the land in a certain amount of time, they maintain and keep up to date all property expenditures such as taxes, and that they meet with the Village once a month to go over the outline as stated in the agreement. The property has never been zoned before and now the Village will be able to collect a tax revenue from the land.
"I am excited about the Villages' decision to accept our proposal and will begin building soon," added Erv Asbury.
The acquisition of the property has also included a TIF 1 program. In the agreement, the Asburys will be given a total sum of $45,000 for the next ten years. $3,500 will be given up front to help the Asburys boost development on the land. Taxes will be collected from the auto sales and services that will be provided from the new business. After ten years, the business will be relieved of its TIF obligation.
