Jaycees begin Oktoberfest planning and contestant searc
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Jaycees are once again putting together the activities and events for this year's Oktoberfest which will be held October 10 & 11, 2008. They have changed the criteria for the contestants for this year by opening up the age category. This year contestants will be from the 14-21 age group. The winners will be chosen by how much money they raise through fundraisers and raffle ticket sales. The contestants will be given a portion of their earnings for all their hard work. They are still looking for males and females in this age group and anyone interested can contact April Fisher at 534-8471 for more information.
The Jaycees are making another big change to the festivities this year. The parade on Friday night will start with a fundraiser walk for St. Jude Research Hospital. The Jaycees encourage people to walk in honor or remembrance of someone. Those interested or needing more information can contact Dave Knop at 559-3525 or Dr. Renee Rheinecker at 965-9555.
The Jaycees plan to continue the St. Jude fundraiser by having a 3K race on Saturday morning along with the craft fair, children's activities and other events. The race will begin at 10 a.m. on South Sparta St. by the Steeleville Storage Sheds. Registration information can also be obtained from Dave Knop or Dr. Rheinecker.
The Steeleville Jaycees are very excited about this year's Oktoberfest and the changes they are making. They hope everyone will mark it on their calendar and keep watching for more information and other activities being planned.
