Coulterville adopts $25 vehicle tax

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Coulterville Village Board of Trustees adopted a vehicle tax Monday. The law known as the Neighborhood Vehicle Act requires a yearly sticker to be issued by the Coulterville Police Department upon approved inspection of the vehicle for lawful use on streets, roads, and highways within the village.

The board took no other action at the meeting. Their next scheduled meeting will be on Monday, August 18.

The sticker will be issued yearly from August 1 and run through July 31 of the following year. A fee of $25 per year shall be payable at the time of issuance of the permit/sticker. Stickers shall be placed on neighborhood vehicles in plain view from the outside of the vehicles.

Vehicle owners must show proof of insurance, and vehicles must have seating in a side-by-side configuration.

The new law allows revocation of the permit along with a citation by the Coulterville Police Department for reckless activity or violation of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
