The daughter of Nellie Harmon Mansker and Bird (Wilson) Hindman, she was born January 31, 1916.
She was a Rockwood native and a 1935 graduate of Chester High School. Her grandparents, James Addison and Emily Harmon, were long-time Rockwood residents. After graduation, Mrs. Seeley joined family members on the island of Aruba. She was a secretary at the high school and also worked in the inventory department of Standard Oil. Mrs. Seeley left Aruba during World War II, when the island came under attack. She later lived in Venezuela, Florida, Oregon, and Texas before moving to California in 1972.
Survivors include a son and daughter in California-L.N. Seeley of Altadena and Carol Goold of Fullerton; two grandsons-James Glover of Angleton, TX, and William Glover of Winnsboro, LA; two great-grandsons, Jesse and Jacob Glover of Angleton; a cousin, Rosalee Choate of Rockwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death September 1, 2008, by the youngest of her three children, Connie Seeley Glover of Angleton, TX.
Mrs. Seeley's life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9, 2008, with an informal luncheon gathering of relatives and friends at 12:30 p.m. in the Chester Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, State and Servants Streets, where she had been a member. The Celebration of Life was planned to reflect Mrs. Seeley's preference for casual, comfortable living. In that vein, the family asks that there be no flowers or remembrances other than support of a favorite local cause: maintenance of the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Rockwood. Mrs. Choate may be contacted for information about the cemetery fund at 618-763-4310.
