Mearl Poe

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Mearl H. Poe, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Mearl worked as a packer at Turco Manufacturing for 20 years. He was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church. He was an avid Du Quoin Indian sportsfFan and in 1982, Mearl and his wife, Angie, were awarded the first husband-and-wife Fan of the Year Award.

He was born Jan. 25, 1933, at Du Quoin, the son of Charles and Margie (Jackson) Poe.

He married Angie Rossi on April 20, 1957, at Du Quoin, and she survives.

He is also survived by two children, Carolyn Rice and husband Dennis of Du Quoin and Steven Poe and wife Cheryl of Du Quoin; two grandchildren, Annie Poe and Tiffani Poe; two brothers, Gene Poe of Lovelock, Nev., and Roy Poe and wife Judy of Boulder, Colo.; and two sisters, Patsy Crispin and husband Charles of Du Quoin and Pansy Hawes of Royalton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by four brothers, Chuck, Earl, Carl and Edward.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Memorials can be made to the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
