Charles Redman
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Charles Olin Redman, 83, of Pinckneyville, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 9:22 a.m. in his residence.
Charles was born on Oct. 23, 1924, in West Frankfort, a son to Gilbert and Ruby (Blackburn) Redman. On Nov. 25, 1942, he married Lucy E. Neal in Perryville, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1992. Charles was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army. He worked at Du Quoin Packing Company for over 27 years and retired as a coal miner. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Du Quoin. Charles loved fishing and assembling model cars.
Survivors include his children, Charles D. (Barbara) Redman of Moorpark, Calif., Sandra Redman of Pinckneyville, Connie (Mark) Stutes of Pinckneyville, Linda (Don) Martin of Camarillo, Calif., and Bonnie Dettman of Du Quoin; a sister, Norma Tyler of Paso Robles, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Hemmer of Du Quoin; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a granddaughter, Dawn Mitchell Vancil; and one brother, Gilbert Redman.
At Charles' request, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Du Quoin.
