Fans will have opportunity to purchase former athletic jerseys
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Over the years as sports teams have purchased new uniforms, old uniforms have been stored away in boxes. Sometimes these uniforms can be used for lower level JV or freshmen teams, but for the most part they sit and sit for years on end. Coffey has done a great job of organizing storage areas and needs to "clean out" old outdated uniforms that will likely never be used again.
On Homecoming weekend Coffey and staff will sell old uniform jerseys from most sports that Chester High has played during the last many decades. For example baseball, basketball, softball, track, volleyball and football jerseys are just a few that have been mentioned. Some sports will also have additional related gear to be sold such as warm ups, sweatshirts, etc.
The initial jersey sale will take place Friday, October 3 prior to the 2008 CHS Homecoming game against the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats. According to Coffey, Juergen's Gym will possibly be the site of the sale due to the close proximity to W.O. Smith Field. The home side for football this year will be on the Juergen's side of the field so that location will likely be the site of pre-game tailgates, Jacket fan parking, and other activities.
Coffey notes that if any items are still left following the initial sale time, he might offer another sale time immediately following the homecoming game or even the next day. Many CHS Alumni will be in town for Homecoming weekend so Coffey thought it would be a wonderful time to clean house, make some money for the athletic department and allow former athletes to get a piece of their high school sports careers.
Coffey and the CHS administration will announce details of the sale as Homecoming week draws closer; however, for now, save your money and mark you calendars for Friday. October 3 for CHS Home-coming and the first athletic jersey sale in many years.
