Du Quoin hosting baseball, softball events

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ In baseball, the Bronco Division tourney on Ernie Reminger Field at the Summers Memorial Sports Complex, includes seven teams and runs through Saturday night.

Tuesday, Du Quoin saw its first action and lost 13-4 against Marion.

Pinto Softball's seven-team tourney is being held on diamonds #3 and #5 at the complex. Du Quoin lost against West Frankfort 8-5 in Tuesday's play.

PONY Tournament action involving Du Quoin teams are also being held in Murphysboro (PONY Baseball) and Marion (Mustangs Baseball).

Du Quoin's Mustangs advanced with a win over Carterville Tuesday.

Zone Tournaments begin next week in West Frankfort, Murphysboro and Carterville.

At Du Quoin, admission to the Summers Sports Complex is $3 per car during the run of the PONY events.

In non-tournament action, Du Quoin's Bronco All-Star girls softball team&#151;sponsored by Burke Manufacturing &#151;split a doubleheader with West Frankfort Tuesday night.

Behind a complete game pitched by Cassity Hill, Du Quoin won the opener , 6-2.

Abby Myers was 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and walk.

Sidney Heunman added a single and scored two runs.

In game two, West Frankfort topped Du Quoin 4-1.

Du Quoin is 15-6-2 so far this season.
