Shahere Lark, 20, was sentenced to eight years in prison for the charge of home invasion, a Class X felony.

Carr said on July 9, officers from the Carbondale Police Department responded to a report of a home invasion at an apartment on East College Street. The victim reported he was asleep in his living room when he awoke to see a black male standing in his doorway.

The victim began yelling at the suspect to leave when another man came down the stairs, holding a handgun and pointing it at the victim. The second man demanded the victim’s wallet. The two men then ran from the residence after taking $20 from the wallet. Carr said the handgun was later determined to be a BB gun.
