An arrest warrant has been issued for a Carbondale man in connection to a shooting in Carbondale Monday morning that left one person seriously injured, according to the Carbondale Police Department.
Terrance Curtis, 27, has a warrant out for his arrest, charging him with aggravated battery with a firearm, which includes a $500,000 bond. He is considered to be armed and dangerous, police said.
At about 2:26 a.m., in the 400 block of W. Cherry St., police report hearing multiple gunshots. Moments later, officers found a male with multiple gunshot wounds. The police are not releasing the victim’s identity, but was taken to Carbondale Memorial Hospital for treatment. Later, the victim was flown to a St. Louis Hospital for additional treatment.
As of Tuesday, the victim’s status is listed as serious.
Police say the investigation has revealed the victim and Curtis are acquaintances, but an arrest hasn’t been made. Neither the victim or the suspect are known to be affiliated with SIU, police say.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
