The former director of the Carterville High School band who used his cell phone to take inappropriate pictures of a teenage girl has been sentenced to 150 days in the Jackson County Jail.
A Jackson County jury returned a guilty verdict July 17 against Michael Todd Norrington, 41, on a charge of unauthorized video recording, a class 3 felony. Sentencing was this week. In addition, Norrington will get credit for two days already served and also faces 30 months probation.
Evidence presented at the trial showed that in June 2014, Norrington knowingly used his cell phone to take photographs under or through the clothing of a 14-year-old girl while the girl was shopping at a retail store in Carbondale.
Due to the age of the victim, Norrington faced two to five years in prison.
