A Murphysboro man sustained major injuries after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a golf cart Tuesday morning.
The Illinois State Police say Sean S. Gardner, 45, was piloting his 2015 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Rt. 149 around 10 a.m. Sept. 6 when he passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone near Mileur Orchard Road.
Subsequently, a golf cart driven by Howard F. Mileur, 61, of Murphysboro entered the roadway. The motorcycle then broadsided the golf cart, ejecting both drivers from their vehicles.
Police cited Mileur for failure to yield and Gardner for disobeying a no-passing zone.
Gardner was transported to St. Joseph Memorial Hospital for treatment of major, non-life-threatening injuries, while Mileur sustained minor injuries and declined treatment. Gardner later was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital.
