Carbondale shooting suspect arrested in Arkansas

A Carbondale man wanted for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting in March in Carbondale was arrested Tuesday in Jonesboro, Arkansas, according to the Carbondale Police Department.  

Jarrell Pullen, 22, was arrested by U.S. State Marshals and the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department. He was arrested on a warrant issued by the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office charging him with first-degree murder. 

Police have been searching for Pullen since a March 9 incident near the Eurma C. Hayes Center in the 400 block of East Willow Street. When police arrived to that scene on March 9, they found JaVon Trott, 19, of Johnston City, lying in a parking lot across from a private residence. He was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, where he later died. 

Pullen is currently incarcerated in Craighead County Jail and is awaiting the extradition process to Jackson County. 

Carbondale detectives continue to investigate the death of Trott and are in communication with authorities in Arkansas.
